Cops tell Yale Safe After Possible Gunman Hoax Call
Yale University was shut down for nearly 6 hours Monday as
authorities investigated a telephone call saying an armed man was heading to
shoot it up.The campus is now safe," New Haven police Chief Dean Esserman said. Authorities don't even believe that the caller was a Yale student. "The Yale cops made the correct call," Esserman said. "They went to immediate lockdown to keep people safe." Yale advised students and staff members to rest in place. A Yale professor, David J. Gelernter, was secerely injured in 1993. Cops arrested a student, David Kyem, who said he had been wearing a Halloween costume and meant no harm.
