Nearly 4 dead, 60 injured as Metro-North passenger train derails in New York City

4 persons are dead and around 60 injured after a Metro-North passenger train derailed on a curved region of track on its path to New York City. 63 people were injured -- 11 seriously -- in the accident that happened at 7:20 a.m., about hundred yards north of the Spuyten Duyvil station in the Bronx, according to authorities.

"I was sleeping, when I woke up when the car started rolling ,” said Joel Zaritsky, who was on his journey to New York City . "After that I saw the gravel coming at me, and I heard some persons screaming. there was all smoke around . Some passengers were thrown to the opposite side of the train."
The whole train was made up of 7 cars, with a diesel locomotive, and five of them went off the tracks, said Metro-North spokesman Aaron Donovan.
The derailment happened near the Harlem River, and authorities say two cars were left lying on their sides, even though none of the cars drowned into the nearby waterway.
